The Backstory
Trove’s founders met in the educational travel industry, working in roles that supported sustainable and challenging programming for students, young adults, and organizations. These programs were built and run by local travel leaders with years of experience and very high standards, trying to build programs with integrity and impact on the local economies. Trove was formed to allow other travelers access to these deep and unique experiences that folks like us work so hard to find.
On trips with colleagues in their hometowns, we got to see many sides of the places we traveled to - the big beautiful sites, hilarious meals with new friends, and that connection that you make when meeting folks along the way. Traveling is not easy. Today’s travelers wanted a balance of “DIY” researching and “letting the adventure lead the way”, and Trove is here to create that balance - give you access to local context and perspective while allowing you to choose the direction.
The Team
Kathy has worked in travel and education for over a decade. Never knowing where the path will lead or how new friendships will develop, she built a company where everyone may discovers joyful moments, friends have magical memories, and we have a positive impact in the local communities we visit.
Lauren started working in educational travel in New Orleans after the levees broke, and since then has served in every role in the industry. She lives between New Orleans and Santo Domingo, which are cousin-cities within the vast and beautiful cultural Caribbean. She’s a city person at heart and prefers to be in the middle of it all, though she loves a good hike and finding the best fruit trees deep in the woods. Urban farms are great too.
In addition to the current active team, Trove was founded and is supported by incredibly skilled, talented, smart, thoughtful, and fearless women. Trove only exists with the long-term and newly formed partnerships between our friends and colleagues around the world who are doing what they love and bringing folks to see where they grew up and the places they call home. We are here to facilitate those connections and the economic and community benefits that come with it.
Trove is proud to be a woman-owned business.
